What is it?

Fork to Fork aims to increase the number of people who grow their own food, and enjoy a healthier lifestyle by using locally grown fresh produce in their diet and by taking part in gardening activities.

Fork to Fork objectives are to:

To promote awareness and understanding of the links between food and healthy lifestyles. The project will provide ways to improve beneficiaries' physical activity and diet. It will also support better mental health.

To enable communities to build knowledge and understanding and to celebrate the cultural diversity of food. Thje project will create opportunities for beneficiaries of different backgrounds to work together and share their experience of food growing and cooking, as well as discover the diversity of food.

To create opportunities for learning and the development of skills through volunteering training and job creation. The project will provide volunteering opportunities, as well as provide skills to help people towards employment. The project will work closely with job and training providers

 

Site activities:

Speke Training and Education Centre- Speke, horticultural activities using the greenhouse & polytunnels & classroom.


Speke Fire Station- Use of land adjacent to the fire station building

Chapel House allotments


Beneficiaries:

People over 55; Primary School Children age; Secondary School age pupils; Long term unemployed and people with learning difficulties.
